Buttermilk Falls, very scenic, Long Lake NY. The falls are a series of short and wide cascades on the Raquette River totaling more than 40 feet. An interesting elevation phenomenon occurs making the river appear to be elevated above the surrounding bedrock

Hello Friends, I visited Blackwater Falls State Park last week and captured this image of Blackwater Falls. Thank You for looking and please leave comments because I'm very interested in your thoughts!!

Blackwater Falls State Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, West Virginia, USA. The centerpiece of the Park is Blackwater Falls, a 62-foot (19 m) cascade where the Blackwater River leaves its leisurely course in Canaan Valley and enters rugged Blackwater Canyon. It is among the most photographed venues in the state and appears on calendars, stationery, advertisements of all kinds and, most famously, on jigsaw puzzles. The River is named for its tannic acid-darkened water.

I managed to get this Image at Watkins Glen yesterday, despite the millions of people with whom I had to share the park.

Watkins Glen State Park is located on the edge of the village of Watkins Glen, New York, south of Seneca Lake in Schuyler County. The main feature of the park is the hiking trail that climbs up through the gorge, passing over and under waterfalls. The park has a lower part that is next to the village and an upper part that is open woodland.

Watkins Glen State Park is in a 400-foot deep narrow gorge cut through rock by a stream that was left hanging when glaciers of the Ice age deepened the Seneca valley, increasing the tributary stream gradient to create rapids and waterfalls wherever there were layers of hard rock. The rocks of the area are sedimentary of Devonian age that are part of a dissected plateau that was uplifted with little faulting or distortion. They consist mostly of soft shales, with some layers of harder sandstone and limestone.
